This desk begins with a striking single slab of locally reclaimed black walnut. There is no trick photography, the incredible color and silhouette looks almost too amazing to be real. Instead of hiding the natural cracks, they were highlighted with epoxy. This tray is supported by a custom walnut base. If you look closely, the grain of the wood on the underframe appears to be a mirror image of itself from left to right, we call this technique "bookmatch". Rarely, if ever, applied to desktop bases like we do.
